First: Get to know the Photographer: Lanny Cottrell

Lanny Cottrell got his start in photography at a Camera store (Inkley’s Photo) in 1976. This was one of the premier photo stores in the day. They were a local chain store, with about 14 stores at the time with stores all through Utah and Idaho. That later grew in to over 21 stores.

He worked his way up through the ranks, and in just 3 years was promoted to Store manager. He went on to start some services for his customers that would help them out with photography. There he taught a basic photography course for all those who bought cameras and wanted to learn how to operate their new cameras.

After a while he wanted to try different things, but after a few years, returned to Inkley’s after they sold out to Ritz Camera. That was not as fun for him, so he just got another job but continued taking a lot of photos in his spare time. Many of the photos you see here on this website have been taken in the last few years.

He loved teaching photography so much that he started a blog that taught different things about photography. Check out that website here: https://123photogo.com/ .
